American singer/songwriter Andie Case (from Eugene, Oregon) takes over the #1 spot on the LGBT chart at midweek with "It Must Have Been Love", moving up 3 more places from the weekend's #4 position. The original version (by Swedish pop duo Roxette) was a Top 5 hit in Sweden after its initial release in 1987, but it didn't become a worldwide smash until it was featured on the soundtrack to Pretty Woman and was re-released in 1990. According to the song's Wikipedia page, the track hit #1 in eight countries (Australia, Canada, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, the U.S.A., and Zimbabwe) and appeared on the official charts of 22 nations altogether. Andie Case, who began her career by posting cover songs to YouTube, came out publicly as bisexual in 2018. Over the past three days, the video for Andie's version of "It Must Have Been Love" has gained an additional 37,688 views on YouTube (which is a massive increase of 10.90% since the weekend's chart!).
Three videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek. British singer Anne-Marie (from Essex, England) soars ahead 12 places to #7 with "Psycho". American rapper/singer Brooke Candy (from Agoura Hills, California) rises 4 notches to #9 with "Flip Phone". They're joined in the Top 10 by South Korean singer JunJi, who's moving ahead 6 more spots to #10 with "Be Mine".
Three songs fall off the chart to make way for three new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "Summer Really Hurt Us" by Finnish singer/songwriter Alma, entering the chart at #42. Alma began her career as a contestant on the Finnish version of Idol, entering the television competition during the show's seventh season when she was just 17 years old. Alma came out publicly as a lesbian in 2016 upon the release of her first EP Dye My Hair, by dedicating a track called "Summer" to her girlfriend. At the time she told Gay Times magazine that it wasn't shame or fear that made her hesitate to discuss her sexuality at first. It was quite simply that she didn't see it as a big deal. Alma explains, "For me, I've lived so openly... I've never understood that being gay can be exciting. For me it's just so normal." She continued, "But then when I understood that maybe... it's seen as bad in some places, and that me being open could help some people, then I started to talk about it more." Over the past half-week, the video for "Summer Really Hurt Us" has gained an additional 270,781 YouTube views (which is an astounding increase of 34.31% over the previous chart period!).
