Chart Week 35 of 2021: Week of 29th August

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #35 of 2021: Week of 29th August

Chart notes:
Brandi Carlile stays put at the #1 spot on this weekend's LGBT chart with "Right on Time". The video, which was directed by actress Courtney Cox (best known for her role as Monica on Friends), begins with Brandi onstage at the end of a show as the crowd cheers. She walks through the backstage area to find herself separated by glass from other people. By the end of the video, Brandi is ready to bust through that glass barrier but she finds that it's no longer there (or perhaps it was never really there at all?). The track is the first single released off her upcoming album In These Silent Days (due on October 1st). Over the past four days, the video for "Right on Time" has gained an additional 41,098 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 5.22% over the previous chart).

Three videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend. Canadian singer Ryland James rises 8 spots to #4 with "3 Purple Hearts". American vocalist Fletcher leaps ahead 13 places to #5 with "Healing". And finally, American musician Wrabel teams up with Dutch artist Duncan Laurence on "Back to Back" which climbs another 7 notches to reach the #10 position.

Nine songs fall off the chart to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut was "Mistress Violet" by American drag queen Violet Chachki (originally from Atlanta, Georgia), entering the chart at #34. Violet, who's best known for winning the seventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race in 2015, identifies as gender-fluid and uses either "she/her" or "they/them" pronouns. The track is a collaboration with Canadian singer/songwriter Allie X, who penned the song for Violet. Over the past half-week, the video for "Mistress Violet" has gained an additional 44,708 YouTube views (which is an increase of 7.14% over the chart prior).

Further down the chart, we have 8 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A., Spain, Palestine, Italy, Sweden, and Scotland:
  • Blas Cantó (from Spain)
  • Griz (from Michigan, USA)
  • Bashar Murad (from Palestine)
  • Mattia Toni (from Italy)
  • Bobby Newberry (from California, USA)
  • Jordy (from Illinois, USA)
  • Patrik Jean (from Sweden)
  • Allan Jay (from Scotland, UK)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views & votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
