Chart notes:
Siena Liggins (from Detroit, Michigan) moves up a spot to become the final #1 video on the LGBT chart for 2018. In a recent interview with PrideSource, she said the song was originally a love letter to the woman she was dating. In the lyrics, Siena tries to build her girlfriend's confidence in her body image by telling her how beautiful she looks when she's naked.

Also in the Top Five this week are: Cub Sport (from Australia), Mathew V (from British Columbia, Canada), Chester Lockhart (from California, USA), and Openside (from New Zealand).

Five songs fell off the chart this week to make way for five new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Walking in Memphis" by Ty Herndon (from Texas, USA). It's a remake of Marc Cohn's 1989 hit (also recorded by Cher in 1995). Ty Herndon began his career as a country artist in the 1990s, scoring several #1 hits on the US Country chart. Currently he's focusing on dance music, but he plans to release a jazz album in 2019 before returning to country music. Ty came out publicly as a gay man in 2014, in an interview with People magazine, and revealed that he'd been in a relationship with a man for several years.

Chart notes:
Julia Weldon has captured the #1 spot on the LGBT chart this week with "When You Die". In addition to music, Julia has also appeared in films (such as "Parallel Sons" and "Before and After") and television (such as "Law and Order" and "High Maintenance"). According to IMDb and Wikipedia, Julia is originally from New Jersey and has a degree in philosophy from Vassar College.

There isn't much movement otherwise within the Top Five this week. Siena Liggins (from Detroit, Michigan) hangs onto #2 for a second consecutive week. Mathew V (from Vancouver, British Columbia) moves up into the Top Three. Zee Machine (from San Francisco, California) and Jeff Carl (from Nashville, Tennessee) both move downward, but only slightly.

Eleven songs fell off the chart this week to make way for nine new songs and two re-entries. The highest debut of the week was "Just Friends" by Jordy (from Los Angeles, California), coming in at #37. According to a recent article in Billboard magazine, the song is from an upcoming EP (due in early 2019) entitled "Welcome to the Friend Zone".

Another noteworthy new entry this week is "Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow" by Skamp, which debuts at #40. Although it's tame by Western standards, the video was banned in their native Lithuania. The black-and-white clip simply shows a number of different couples (some straight, some gay, and some lesbian) kissing and showing affection. The Lithuanian government has an anti-gay "propaganda" law similar to the one in Russia, and they have blocked the video within their borders.

Chart positions are based on (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) my votes, (4) views on YouTube, and (5) any votes I've received by Thursday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).

Chart notes:
For the second week in a row, Jeff Carl has the #1 song with "Buried in New York". He's originally from upstate New York, has lived on the west coast as well as New York City, and now makes his home in Nashville, Tennessee. The actor portraying Jeff's ex-boyfriend in the video is straight, but the necklace was a gift from his real ex.

Siena Liggins (from Detroit, Michigan) moves up 3 spots to claim the #2 position this week. Also moving up 3 spots to land at #3 is Zee Machine (from San Francisco, California). Julia Weldon (from New Jersey) hangs onto the #4 spot with "When You Die". Canadian musician Mathew V (from Vancouver, British Columbia) moves up into the Top Five with "The Coast".

Seven songs fell off the chart this week to make way for six new songs and one re-entry. The highest debut of the week was "Dancing By Myself" by Joey Suarez (from New York City), coming in at #35. The song is about being "ghosted" and it made the Top Five on the UK Club Chart a few weeks ago.

Chart positions are based on (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) my votes, (4) views on YouTube, and (5) any votes I've received by Thursday morning. Chart notes:
American musician Michael Medrano (from Los Angeles, California) has the new #1 song with "Love Somebody Else". Michael began writing songs as a teenager, shortly after coming out as gay and breaking away from his religious upbringing as a Jehovah's Witness.

Slipping to #2 this week is last week's #1 song by David Hernandez (also from California). Also in the Top Five this week are alextbh (from Malaysia) and two other Americans -- Jeff Carl (from Tennessee) and Julia Weldon (from New Jersey).

Twelve songs fell off the countdown this week to make way for ten new songs and two re-entries. The highest debut this week was "We Won't Be Erased" by Jaimie Wilson and Jehry Robinson (from Michigan and New York), coming in at #23. The song was written as a musical response to the anti-transgender memo recently released by the Trump administration.
