Chart notes:
British singer Sam Smith spends a second week atop the LGBT chart, as "Diamonds" hangs onto the #1 spot. In the lyrics, Sam bids farewell to a former lover who was only interested in money and material things. Fans have speculated that it was inspired by Sam's breakup with ex-boyfriend Brandon Flynn, although Sam has publicly denied that the song is about any one person in particular. The video for "Diamonds" has gained an additional 3,887,985 YouTube views over the past seven days, which is an increase of 13.61% over the previous week.
Eleven songs fell off the chart this week to make way for eleven new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Le Coeur Holiday" by British musician Mika, entering the chart at #26. The track is a collaboration with French vocalist Soprano, who was Mika's partner on the French version of The Voice. Mika speaks fluent French, having spent a portion of his childhood in France. However, this is his first single in French in more than six years. The video for "Le Coeur Holiday" gained an additional 336,303 views on YouTube over the past week, which is an increase of 14.25% over the week prior.
Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's chart position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past seven days, (4) percentage of increase in YouTube views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by 12 noon on Wednesday (California time).
