Chart notes:
British musician Elton John takes over the #1 spot on the LGBT chart at midweek with "Hold Me Closer", moving up one more place from the weekend's #2 position. The song, a collaboration with American vocalist Britney Spears, combines elements from three of Elton's past hits -- "Tiny Dancer" (1971), "The One" (1992), and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" (1976) -- and remixes them into a new track. According to the song's Wikipedia page, it has appeared on the official charts of 47 different countries and has reached #1 in seven of them (Australia, the U.S.A., Germany, Canada, Hungary, Croatia, and Israel). In Elton's native England, the track made its chart debut at #3. Over the past three days, the video for "Hold Me Closer" has gained an additional 597,263 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 3.96% since the weekend's chart).

Three videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek, including a return from a former #1 hit: Brazilian artist Piettro rebounds back up 4 places to #8 with "Rei De Cocada". German DJ/producer Felix Jaehn leaps ahead 11 notches to #7 with "Call It Love". They're joined in the Top 10 by Brazilian drag performer Lia Clark, who's rising 3 more spots to #10 with "PQP! (Tu Fez Do Jeito Que En Queria)".

Seven songs fall off the chart to make way for seven new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "Grapefruit" by Swedish singer/songwriter Tove Lo, entering the chart at #33. The song's lyrics detail Tove's exploration of her mental state through the lens of her eating disorder, which is a topic she'd never discussed publicly until now. Tove told Apple Music that "When I played this song for my friends, they were like 'I never would've known. You're so much about body positivity.' And my response is 'Yes, because I went through that.'" Over the past half-week, the video for "Grapefruit" has gained an additional 62,531 YouTube views (which is an increase of 3.50% over the previous chart period).

Further down the chart, we have 6 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Spain, the U.S.A., and England:
  • Bebe Rexha (from New York, USA)
  • Pablo Alborán (from Spain)
  • Dylan And The Moon (from England, UK)
  • Blas Cantó (from Spain)
  • Omar Apollo (from Indiana, USA)
  • Joshua Bassett (from California, USA)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
