Chart notes:
For the second week in a row, the #1 video on the LGBT chart is "Just Friends" by Jordy. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, Jordy (whose real name is Jordy Shulman) was rejected by a man he really liked. He sat down at the piano with his roommate (co-writer Will Jay) and wrote the song that same night.

The remainder of the Top Five this week are from European musicians: Jax Jones/Years And Years (from the UK), Jvel (from Spain), Sam Smith (from the UK), and Bilal Hassani (from France).

It has come to my attention, thanks to my friends over at Gay Music Chart, that "Energy" by Sampa The Great is a questionable choice for the LGBT chart. Although she has some gay fans and was featured in a gay music blog, it does not appear that Sampa The Great is an LGBT artist or has any strong ties to the LGBT community. I did not have time to redo this week's chart and playlist, but she is falling to #50 this week anyway and will likely drop off the countdown next week. I respect their opinion and thank them for their feedback because, after all, the focus here should always be on LGBT artists.

Ten songs fell off the countdown this week to make way for ten new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Dancing With A Stranger" by Sam Smith and Normani, coming in at #19. Although the video was just released at the end of last month, the song has already been certified gold (with sales of more than 35,000 units) in Australia and Canada.

Another notable new entry this week is "Everything Is New" by Jaimie Wilson, which debuted at #44 this week. Jaimie is a transgender musician who recorded portions of the song before he transitioned, so that female voice you hear in the background is actually his old voice. Essentially he is singing a duet with his pre-transition self.

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube, (4) my votes, and (5) any votes I've received by Thursday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).
