Chart notes:
Texas-based rap collective Brockhampton rises to the top of the LGBT chart, as "Sugar" (featuring another gay artist, Ryan Beatty) climbs two more spots to #1 this week. Kevin Abstract (one of the band's founding members) says that the track's lyrics are all about uncertainty. He told MTV recently, "It's alright to not really know what you're doing.. It's alright to not have it figured out in terms of relationships and love and stuff like that. I feel like it's nice to have a song that kind of speaks to that feeling of not knowing what's up."

Kansas-born country artist Cameron Hawthorn removed the video for "Cowboy Take Me Away" from YouTube last week, so it must be removed from the LGBT chart as well. Before it was made private, the video had more than 2200 views. The track was a cover of a song by the Dixie Chicks, and it reached #25 on the LGBT chart last week.

Eight songs fell off the chart this week to make way for eight new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Right Gei" by Austrian singer-songwriter Virginia Ernst, entering the chart at #40. Ernst was a professional ice hockey player before she began a career in music in 2013. She had a #1 hit in Austria in 2014, and she was the most-played artist on Austrian radio that year. Virginia (whose friends know her as "Gini") came out publicly as gay in 2015. She also appeared as a contestant on the television series ORF Dancing Star in 2019.

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past seven days, (4) percentage of increase in views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Wednesday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).
