Chart notes:
English musician Emily Burns rises to the #1 spot on the LGBT chart this week with "Hello". The track is about a toxic on-and-off relationship. She explains that the song "is about the one person who seems to always wait for that opportune moment you're about to get over them, before finding a way to re-enter your life. It might be a simple text or call, or maybe you run into them on a night out, and suddenly you're back to square one" The video makes use of carousel-style filming, where the camera circles around the main characters to create a sense of a never-ending cycle.
Eight songs fell off the chart this week to make way for seven new songs and one re-entry. The highest debut of the week was "How to Be Lonely" by British vocalist Rita Ora, entering the chart at #34. She came out as bisexual in 2018 during an interview with Stylist magazine, adding "I'm very proud of who I am and my journey to get here."
Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past seven days, (4) percentage of increase in YouTube views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Wednesday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).
