Chart notes:

It was a real challenge to get the chart & playlist done this week, but hopefully it will proceed at all the usual times again going forward. A few days ago I relocated from Quebec (near Montreal) to sunny southern California (the city of San Diego) which is a distance of about 4,700 kilometers (or about 2,900 miles)! I'm staying in a hotel temporarily until I find a permanent place, but for right now I still have internet access & hope to be able to continue this chart & playlist every weekend.

LP, the American singer/songwriter whose real name is Laura Pergolizzi, hangs onto the top spot on the LGBT chart this week with "The One That You Love". Altogether, all of the songs from LP get about 2 million new streams every day on various digital streaming platforms. LP's latest video, "The One That You Love", was released to YouTube on July 23rd and has already accumulated over 7.2 million views. Over the past seven days, she added another 423,906 YouTube views to that total (an increase of 6.62% from the week prior) which was more than enough to fend off all the competition and keep her at the #1 position for a second consecutive week.

Twelve songs fell off the chart this week to make way for twelve new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Cabin Fever" by American singer/actor Jaden Smith, entering the chart at #29. Jaden is the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. He officially came out as gay in January of this year, and referred to fellow musician Tyler The Creator as his boyfriend. The video for "Cabin Fever" racked up an additional 246,012 YouTube views in the past week, which is an increase of 5.30% from the previous week.

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's chart position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past seven days, (4) percentage of increase in YouTube views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Wednesday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).

  1. Congratulations on your move to San Diego. It was my home in the late 80's during my formative years as a gay youth. I enjoyed it there. Managed the Baskin Robbins in Hillcrest. Not sure it's still there as it's been a number of years since I've been there. Have been in Phoenix Arizona for the past 3 years. All the best to you in your new venture.

    1. Thank you so much for the words of support, Frank! My best friend (who already lives here) and I are looking for an apartment together in Hillcrest. I am so glad to be here and I am reuniting with many old friends who I haven't seen in a long time, so it already feels like home. And as always, thanks for your votes!
