Chart notes:
Qveen Herby and Durand Bernarr have scored their very first #1 hit on the LGBT chart this week, as "Self Aware" climbs three more notches to the #1 spot. Nebraska native Amy Noonan, now professionally known as Qveen Herby, is embarking on a new solo career after her success as one-half of the pop duo Karmin (along with her husband, Nick). On this track, the rapper/singer is collaborating with gay singer/songwriter Durand Bernarr. Durand is originally from Ohio, and he says that music was always in his DNA. His mother was a professional music teacher and vocal coach, and his father worked to provide sound and tour production to multiple musicians over the years (including Jay-Z, Earth Wind & Fire, and Whitney Houston). Durand has toured with Erykah Badu as a back-up singer for the past nine years, and he's just released his first full-length solo album. This past week, the video for "Self Aware" added another 29,665 YouTube views onto its total, which is an increase of 5.35% from the previous week.
Nine songs fell off the LGBT chart this week to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Cry About It Later" by bisexual American singer Katy Perry, entering the chart at #33. The song's lyrics make it clear that she's heartbroken over both a man and a woman as Katy sings, "I almost forgot you're not him, you're not her," but then decides to shrug off her issues in favor of flirting with others. In the cute animated video, Katy appears as a witch and shares a passionate kiss with another woman. Katy is engaged to actor Orlando Bloom, and just gave birth to their daughter Daisy. The video for "Cry About It Later" tallied up an additional 1,332,847 YouTube views over the past seven days, which is an increase of 10.33% over the week prior.
Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's chart position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past seven days, (4) percentage of increase in YouTube views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Wednesday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).
