Chart Week 07 of 2021: Week of 14th February

Chart Week #7 of 2021: Week of 14th February

 Chart notes:
Belgian-born French singer Jérémy Frerot achieves his very first #1 on the LGBT chart this week with "Un Homme", rising two notches from last week's #3 spot. The video challenges cultural norms about maleness & explores various aspects of masculinity (including some LGBT characters) while the lyrics ask (in French) what it really means to be a man. Jérémy was a contestant on the third season of the French version of The Voice (La Plus Belle Voix) in 2014 as one-half of the duo Fréro Delavega. The video for "Un Homme" has gained an additional 288,408 views on YouTube over the past seven days (which is an increase of 18.10% over the previous week).

Two American LGBT artists move up into the Top 10 this week -- Fancy Hagood (originally from Arkansas) and Katy Perry (from California). Irish vocalist Tim Chadwick also moves up to the Top 10 with "If I Gotta Run", rising six notches to the #9 spot.

Nine songs fell off the chart this week to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Good Old Daze" by California pop/reggae musician Jason Mraz, entering the chart at #39. The Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter spent two weeks at #1 on the LGBT chart last year with "Look For the Good". In addition to his musical career, Jason runs a ranch here in San Diego (which he has dubbed "The Mranch") where he's turned his hobby -- raising avocados and coffee beans -- into a business. Over the past week, the video for "Good Old Daze" has gained an additional 4,762 YouTube views (which is an increase of 13.22% over the week prior).

Further down the chart, we also have debuts from 3 more American acts -- Fletcher (originally from New Jersey), Jordan Doww (from Michigan), and Gregory Dillon (originally from New Hampshire). They're joined by three artists from England (Rina Sawayama, Matt Taylor, and Boy George) and two musicians from France (drag performer Bilal Hassani and pop/EDM duo Cassandre). An Israeli musician/dancer/model (Asaf Goren) is also featured on the track from Boy George.

Each week, Tad's LGBT music chart brings you the top 50 videos by LGBT artists from around the world. Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's chart position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past 7 days, (4) percentage of increase in YouTube views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Wednesday at 12 noon (California time). If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are welcomed, but they must be from an LGBT artist & must be available on YouTube.
