Chart Week 19 of 2021: Week of 9th May

Each week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBT artists from around the world.

Chart Week #19 of 2021: Week of 9th May

Chart notes:
American musician LP (whose real name is Laura Pergolizzi) spends a second consecutive week at #1 on the LGBT chart with "One Last Time". She's originally from Long Island, but now resides in Los Angeles. The track is the third single to be released off of LP's highly-anticipated new album, which is scheduled to be released in September. (The first two videos from that album, "The One That You Love" and "How Low Can You Go?", both also hit #1 here on the LGBT chart.) The video has won high praise from critics for its cinematic quality and costars LP's close friend Jaime King. The guests at the dinner party are all friends or business associates of LP as well, including her personal assistant and her barber. Over the past seven days, the video for "One Last Time" has gained an additional 360,830 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 4.32% over the previous week).

Five videos move up into the Top 10 this week. Andreas Moss (from Sweden) moves up 11 spots to #6 with "Real Love". Transgender musician/model Jaimie Wilson (who's originally from Michigan, but now resides in Manhattan) climbs 4 notches to #7 with "What If". American singer Isaac Dunbar (from Massachusetts) goes up 7 more places to #8 with "Fan Behavior". German band Leopold want to be your "Girlfriend" at #9. And finally, Spanish quartet Miss Caffeina moves up 10 notches to #10 with "Punto Muerto".

Nine songs fall off the chart this week to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Dancing With the Devil" by American singer/songwriter Demi Lovato (who's originally from New Mexico), entering the chart at #34. The video is autobiographical -- Demi has publicly spoken about her struggles with substance abuse, addiction, an eating disorder, and mental health issues -- as it depicts her near-fatal overdose in 2018. That summer, Demi relapsed after six years of sobriety: she overdosed on opioids, causing three strokes, a heart attack, multiple organ failure, pneumonia, permanent brain damage, and lasting vision problems. She was also sexually assaulted by her drug dealer that night. It's a miracle she survived. The video ends on a hopeful note, with a close-up on her tattoo that reads "survivor" and a disco ball above her hospital bed. Over the past week, the video for "Dancing With the Devil" gained an additional 775,737 YouTube views (which is an increase of 3.77% over the week prior).

Further down the chart, we have 8 more debuts from the USA, Norway, Brazil, Russia, and Scotland:
  • Sondre Justad (from Norway)
  • Bebe Rexha (from New York, USA)
  • Jão (from Brazil)
  • MKSM (originally from Russia)
  • Brooke Eden (from Florida, USA)
  • KT Tunstall (from Scotland, UK)
  • Serpentwithfeet (originally from Maryland, USA)
  • Siena Liggins (from Michigan, USA)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's chart position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past 7 days, (4) percentage of increase in YouTube views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Thursday at 12 noon (California time). If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBT artist & must be available on YouTube.
