Chart Week #20 of 2021: Week of 16th May

Chart notes:
American singer Lil Nas X (whose real name is Montero Hill, and who's originally from Georgia) reaches the top of the LGBT chart this week with "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)", climbing one more notch to the #1 spot. The track has already reached #1 on the official charts of 17 different countries -- the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Norway, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia, Australia, and Israel. Over the past seven days, the video for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" has gained an additional 15,476,778 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 8.17% over the previous week).

Four videos move up into the Top 10 this week. Two of the four are from Ukrainian artists (Max Barskih at #5 with "Bestseller", and Maruv at #10 with "Crush"). Joining them in the Top 10 are English DJ/drag performer Jodie Harsh (who climbs 6 more spots to #6 with "My House") and Belgian band Oscar And The Wolf (who move up 11 places to #9 with "James").

Eight videos fall off the chart this week to make way for eight new videos. The highest debut of the week was "Unlock It" by English vocalist Charli XCX (along with transgender German singer Kim Petras and Seattle rapper Jay Park), entering the chart at #38. The track was originally released in 2017, but it's gained so much popularity on TikTok this year that Charli decided to re-release it alongside a brand-new video. Over the past week, the video for "Unlock It" has gained an additional 268,426 YouTube views (which is an increase of 17.58% over the week prior).

Further down the chart, we have 7 more debuts from Spain, the USA, Chile, Ireland, and Germany:
  • Tiger Goods (from Ohio, USA)
  • Daniel Schuhmacher (from Germany)
  • Tim Chadwick (from Ireland)
  • Nick Bolt (from Chile)
  • Seth Sikes (from New York, USA)
  • Warmi (from Spain)
  • Ricky Merino (from Spain)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's chart position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past seven days, (4) percentage of increase in YouTube views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Thursday at 12 noon (California time). If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBT artist & must be available on YouTube.
