Midweek Chart: 24th November 2021

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Midweek Chart for 24th November, 2021

Chart notes:
English singer Becky Hill reaches the #1 spot on the LGBT Midweek Chart with "My Heart Goes (La Di Da)", a collaboration with German DJ/producer Tobias Topic. Becky made history back in 2014 as the very first contestant from The Voice to ever hit #1 on the U.K. charts. She came out publicly as a member of the LGBTQ community in April 2021, telling her fans on Twitter that "I've definitely felt uncomfortable branding myself as straight, or as anything else for that matter, but queer seems to be the most fitting identity for who I am." Over the past three days, the video for "My Heart Goes (La Di Da)" has gained an additional 102,618 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 6.90% since the weekend's chart).

Three videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek, two of which happen to be from American acts who each make a ten-point leap from their positions on the weekend chart: Maggie Lindemann (from Dallas, Texas) climbs from #18 to #8 with "She Knows It", while Chaz Cardigan (from Elizabethtown, Kentucky) rises from #20 to #10 with "Pictures". They're joined in the Top 10 by British superstar Elton John, who moves up 5 more spots to #9 with "After All".

Ten songs fall off the chart to make way for ten new songs. The highest debut was "Prada/Rakata" by Venezuelan/Spanish musician Arca, entering the chart at #30. Arca came out as nonbinary in 2018, later adding that she identifies as a transgender woman. In a 2020 interview with Vice magazine, she clarified further by stating "I see my gender identity as nonbinary and I identify as a trans Latina woman, and yet, I don't want to encourage anyone to think that my gayness has been banished. And when I talk about gayness, it's funny because I'm not thinking about who I'm attracted to. It's a form of cultural production that is individual and collective, which I don't ever want to renounce." Over the past half-week, the video for "Prada/Rakata" has gained an additional 32,009 YouTube views (which is an increase of 6.11% over the previous chart period).

Further down the chart, we have 9 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A., Puerto Rico, Germany, Norway, Wales, England, Turkey, and the Netherlands:
  • LP (from New York, USA)
  • Gina Chavez (from Texas, USA), Rock M Sakura (from California, USA), Cynthia Lee Fontaine (from Puerto Rico), & Kylie Sonique Love (from Georgia, USA)
  • Tokio Hotel (from Germany)
  • Keiino (from Norway)
  • Slayyyter (from Missouri, USA) & Big Freedia (from Louisiana, USA)
  • Alekxandr (originally from Wales & now residing in England, UK)
  • Jordy (from Illinois, USA)
  • Walk The Moon (from Ohio, USA)
  • Burçak (originally from Turkey & now living in the Netherlands)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
