Chart notes:
English disco/pop singer Jessie Ware earns a place at #1 on the LGBT chart this weekend with "Free Yourself", moving up one more spot from the midweek's #2 position. In the clip, Jessie strides through a stately home clad in ruby-red silk and she leads a congregation of dancers through a ritualistic lecture of self-love and acceptance. Over the past four days, the video for "Free Yourself" has gained an additional 13,429 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 1.54% since the midweek's chart).

Two videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend. Transgender German singer Kim Petras climbs 4 notches to #8 with "Can't Do Better". She's joined in the Top 10 by openly gay American rapper ILoveMakonnen (from Atlanta, Georgia), who's rising 9 spots to #9 with "Bet That".

Seven songs fall off the chart to make way for seven new songs. The highest debut this weekend was "Playground Politica" by Israeli musician Netta, entering the chart at #37. The track is a collaboration with Nigerian-born Ghanaian rapper Mr. Eazi. Netta spent part of her childhood in Nigeria where she attended an international school before returning to her home country of Israel. All the kids were from different countries and cultures, and she remembers it as a happy time because "Everyone was different, so no one was different. Everyone was encouraged to shine their own unique light." She contrasts that experience with moving back to Israel and feeling picked on by her peers. "I was the fat unibrow kid with an accent that didn't fit in," she says. On this single, she hopes to recapture her childhood "happy place" in Nigeria by incorporating an Afrobeat fusion jam. Over the past half-week, the video for "Playground Politica" has gained an additional 39,374 YouTube views (which is a huge increase of 9.06% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 6 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A., the Netherlands, England, and Bulgaria:
  • Panic! At The Disco (from Nevada, USA)
  • Duncan Laurence (from the Netherlands)
  • Seth Sikes (from New York, USA)
  • Keanan (from England, UK)
  • Alek Sandar (from Bulgaria)
  • Daya (from Pennsylvania, USA)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
