Chart notes:
In its fifth week on the LGBT chart, breezy summer anthem "Emotions" by Elliot Jones rises one notch to take over the #1 slot. This is the very first time on the chart for the Canadian-born singer/songwriter from Toronto who now calls Los Angeles home. Elliot received the most votes this week, and the video was also a close runner-up (after Mika's "Ice Cream") for the highest weekly percentage gains in YouTube views.

The remainder of the Top Five this week are: Australian singer Alfie Arcuri (climbing 2 spots to #2), Moroccan-American musician Matthew James (moving up 2 notches to #3), the collaboration between American acts The Chainsmokers and Bebe Rexha (going ahead 8 places to #4), and American singer Katy Perry (rising 10 spots to #5).

Ten songs fell off the chart this week to make way for ten new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Time Waits for No One" by late English singer Freddie Mercury, coming in at #25. This recently rediscovered footage was originally recorded in 1986, but the soundtrack is newly remastered and was just released to YouTube in late June. The drums and the background vocals have been digitally stripped out of the original track, leaving the 2019 version with just the sounds of the piano and Freddie's voice.

Two artists (Joy Oladokun and Eledos) are making their very first appearances on the LGBT chart this week. An additional eight artists (Freddie Mercury, Daya, Todrick Hall, PJ Brennan, Jao, Miss Benny, Hatari, and Kim Petras) are returning to the chart with brand-new videos.

Hatari's brilliant collaboration with gay Palestinian artist Bashar Murad, which enters the LGBT chart at #48 this week, has English subtitles available for the Icelandic and Arabic lyrics. The video was filmed in the Jericho Desert while Hatari was in Israel to perform at Eurovision 2019.

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past seven days, (4) percentage of increase in YouTube views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Thursday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).
