Chart Week 09 of 2022: 27 February

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #9 of 2022: Week of 27th February

Chart notes:
Chilean musician/actress Vesta Lugg earns her first #1 on the LGBT chart this weekend with "No Somos Buenxs", moving up 3 more places from the midweek's #4 position. In addition to her acting and musical career, Vesta is also a vlogger with more than a million followers on Instagram. She came out as bisexual in January 2021, stating "I think sexuality is fluid... I want to love who I want to love." Over the past four days, the video for "No Somos Buenxs" has gained an additional 52,455 views on YouTube (which is a massive increase of 24.96% since the midweek's chart!).

Please note that Vesta Lugg was previously misidentified on this blog/chart as being from Spain. This was an error. She's actually from Chile, and she will be correctly referred to here as a Chilean artist from this point onward.

Four videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend, including a return from a former #1 hit: American vocalist Katy Perry re-enters the Top 10 with "When I'm Gone", rebounding back up 8 spots to the #10 position. Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin climbs 7 notches to #6 with "Otra Noche en L.A." Danish singer/songwriter Mø rises 4 spots to #7 with "New Moon". They're joined in the Top 10 by Italian artist Michele Bravi, who leaps ahead 14 places to to #9 with "Inverno Dei Fiori".

Nine songs fall off the chart to make way for eight new songs and one re-entry. The highest debut this weekend was "Just an Artist" by Austrian singer/rapper Mavi Phoenix, entering the chart at #24. Mavi started his career as a contestant in the music competition Lautstark! in 2013, and released his first EP as a free download in 2014. His first full-length album (entitled Boys Toys) was released in 2020 and made it to the Top 20 on the official album chart in his native Austria (peaking at #18). Mavi came out publicly as a transgender man in 2019 and refers to himself using "he/him" pronouns. Over the past half-week, the video for "Just an Artist" has gained an additional 1,994 YouTube views (which is a huge increase of 22.02% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 7 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from England, the U.S.A., and the Netherlands:
  • Duncan Laurence (from the Netherlands)
  • Halsey (from New Jersey, USA)
  • Omar Apollo (from Indiana, USA)
  • Arlo Parks (from England, UK)
  • King Princess (from New York, USA)
  • Kailee Morgue (from Arizona, USA)
  • Lava La Rue (from England, UK)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
