Chart Week 08 of 2022: 20 February

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #8 of 2022: Week of 20th February

Chart notes:
Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Kany García gets her first #1 on the LGBT chart this weekend with "Agüita E Coco", moving up one more place from the midweek's #2 position. Kany started her career as a contestant on the television talent competition Objetivo Fama in 2004. She's had seven #1 albums in Puerto Rico since then, according to her Wikipedia page, and has won six Latin Grammy Awards. Kany told her fans in 2016 that she was in a same-sex relationship with her personal trainer Jocelyn, whom she married in 2019. Over the past four days, the video for "Agüita E Coco" has gained an additional 147,652 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 4.84% since the midweek's chart).

Five videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend. British rapper Keanan climbs 8 notches to #5 with "Obstacle". American singer/actor Joshua Bassett rises 5 spots to #6 with "Secret". Swedish musician Isak Danielson is moving up 4 places to #8 with "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait". Brazilian singer Davi Bandeira leaps ahead 12 notches to #9 with "Vai Passar". They're joined in the Top 10 by Spanish drag queen Chumina Power, who's also making a big jump of 12 spots to reach #10 with "No Pensar En Ti".

Eight songs fall off the chart to make way for eight new songs. The highest debut this weekend was "Am I Really Going to Die?" by English trio White Lies, entering the chart at #33. The band recently told XS Noize Magazine that the song is "the first part of a two-song narrative about a self-important hot-shot given a terminal diagnosis, and the various stages of his coming to terms with it." Over the past half-week, the video for "Am I Really Going to Die?" has gained an additional 42,464 YouTube views (which is a massive increase of 21.46% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 7 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A., Italy, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Russia, and Scotland:
  • Michele Bravi (from Italy)
  • Wallis Bird (originally from Ireland & now residing in Germany)
  • Brother Leo (from Sweden)
  • Sevndeep (from Virginia, USA)
  • Dreamer Isioma (from Illinois, USA)
  • Pussy Riot (from Russia)
  • KT Tunstall (from Scotland, UK)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
