Chart notes:
South Korean singer YooJung has earned his first #1 on the LGBT chart at midweek with "Begin", moving up two more places from the weekend's #3 position. YooJung is the first member of boy-band OnlyOneOf to release a solo project, and there are more to come: all six of them will be releasing a single and an accompanying music video over the next few months. The clip for "Begin" has received praise from K-pop fans for its pro-LGBTQ messaging as it depicts two men falling in love who are afraid to confront their feelings for each other. The origami paper cranes in the video represent YooJung's character making a wish. YooJung wrote, "Among the countless lovers in the world, there are also lovers who couldn't be blessed. For whatever reasons. Religious reasons, things like parents' disapproval. I dedicate this song to all those lovers who couldn't be blessed." Over the past three days, the video for "Begin" has gained an additional 284,662 views on YouTube (which is a huge increase of 17.24% since the weekend's chart!).

Five videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek. American singer Hayley Kiyoko (from Agoura Hills, California) jumps 12 notches to #3 with "Deep In the Woods". Chilean brother-and-sister duo Kevin Y Karla climb 11 spots to #6 with "Somebody That I Used To Know (Spanish Version)". Danish singer Mø rises 3 more places to #8 with "True Romance". English vocalist Calum Scott leaps ahead 15 positions to #9 with "Heaven". They're joined in the Top 10 by Canadian singer/songwriter Ria Mae (from Halifax, Nova Scotia), who's moving up 12 spots to #10 with "The World Is Falling Apart".

Nine songs fall off the chart to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "Ácido Sabor" by Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, entering the chart at #40. It's the first single from Ricky's new 6-song EP Play, released amid controversy in his personal life: his former manager Rebecca Drucker's lawsuit seeking $3 million in unpaid commissions, and the restraining order and domestic violence accusations by his nephew. The track's title translates to "Sour Taste" in English. The clip contains some religious references and bullfighting, as well as images of Ricky in a kind of symbolic battle against himself. Over the past half-week, the video for "Ácido Sabor" has gained an additional 827,740 YouTube views (which is a massive increase of 44.66% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 8 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A., Belgium, and Mexico:
  • Maggie Lindemann (from Texas, USA)
  • Brandi Carlile (from Washington, USA)
  • Muna (from California, USA)
  • Demi Lovato (from Texas, USA)
  • Oscar And The Wolf (from Belgium)
  • Lily Rose (from Georgia, USA)
  • Luis Lauro (from Mexico)
  • Fancy Hagood (from Arkansas, USA)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
