Midweek Music Update

  for 3rd April, 2019

For the month of April 2019, I'm experimenting with a few new ideas to improve this site & make it even better. One of my ideas is to have twice-weekly updates. I'll continue to post the Top 50 chart & playlist every weekend, as usual. In addition, I'll publish a Midweek Music Update (on Tuesday, or perhaps Wednesday at the latest) to give you a "sneak peek" at some new music that hasn't made my chart yet & to let you know where the voting stands so far.

Please note that the voting is still open until Thursday morning. YouTube views are not included in the chart above, but are factored into the final chart that will be published on the weekend.

Hot New Track:
In this section, I'll post one video that is certain to make my chart & playlist for next weekend. This week's Hot New Track is "Like You" by Asiahn. As I write this, the video has 200,766 views on YouTube.

Overlooked Gem:
In this section, I'll post one video that hasn't gotten a large number of views but looks likely to enter my countdown next weekend based on the percentage increase score that I track each week. This week's Overlooked Gem is "Order Up" by Cleland. The video currently has 1239 views on YouTube.

Fresh New Releases:
In this final section, I'll post two or three videos that are likely to make my chart in the near future based on YouTube views alone. All of the songs in this section will be relatively recent (released in the last month or so). Because they are so new, it might take 2-3 weeks to make their way onto the chart.

The first Fresh New Release this week is from Greyson Chance, who was at #1 on last weekend's Top 50 chart with "Shut Up". The next video from his new album has been released, and it's for the track "Yours". The video has 424,263 views on YouTube.

The second Fresh New Release this week comes from Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. While Iggy isn't an LGBT musician, she's chosen to celebrate the LGBT community in her new video for "Sally Walker". Among the multiple LGBT YouTubers and drag queens who can be seen making a cameo appearance in this clip are: Shea Coulee, Mayhem Miller, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, and James Charles. The video has already amassed a whopping 36,821,765 views on YouTube.

The third and final Fresh New Release this week is "Temporary Love" by Ben Platt. Shortly after coming out as gay, the Broadway/movie star released four music videos in fairly quick succession. While the first 3 videos did not make my Top 50, it appears that this newest track most certainly will earn enough points to appear very soon on my playlists. The clip has 976,310 views on YouTube.

That's it for this week's Midweek Music Update. Please check back on Saturday or Sunday for the latest chart & playlist. Until then, I hope you all have a fabulous week!
