Chart Week 31 of 2021: Week of 1st August

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #31 of 2021: Week of 1st August

Chart notes:
English musician Emily Burns stays put at #1 on the LGBT chart this weekend with "I'm So Happy". Before she kicks off a tour of the U.K. in September, Emily is appearing at various music festivals this summer. A few days ago, she performed at the Latitude Festival in Suffolk alongside other artists like Declan McKenna, Joesef, Rudimental, Bastille, and Rick Astley. Critics have heaped praise on Emily's music, calling her "undeniably one of the brightest new songwriting talents, destined only for big things." Over the past half-week, the video for "I'm So Happy" has gained an additional 17,152 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 10.13% over the previous chart).

Two videos move up into the Top 10 on this weekend's chart. Transgender Australian musician Flowerkid climbs 8 notches to #5 with "It's Happening Again", and Ukrainian vocalist Max Barskih moves up 5 spots to #6 with "Noch'-provodnik".

Eight songs fall off the chart to make way for eight new songs. The highest debut of the week was "I Wanna Be Your Slave" by Italian quartet Måneskin, entering the chart at #37. After being declared the winner of the Eurovision 2021 contest in May, their track "Zitti E Buoni" became the very first Italian-language single to hit #1 on the Spotify Global Chart. Bassist Victoria de Angelis is openly bisexual, and two other members of the band (lead singer Damiano David and drummer Ethan Torchio) rebuff labels but self-identify as "sexually free". After performing last month at the Polsat SuperHit Festiwal in Poland, Damiano and Thomas kissed on the lips onstage as a form of protesting Polish anti-LGBTQ laws. "We think everyone should be allowed to do this without any fear," Damiano announced to the cheering crowd, and added "Love is never wrong." Over the past four days, the video for "I Wanna Be Your Slave" has gained an additional 2,445,481 YouTube views (which is an increase of 11.58% over the chart prior).

Further down the chart, we have 7 more debuts by LGBT artists from Poland, Brazil, the U.S.A., and Australia:
  • St. Vincent (from Texas, USA)
  • Jakub & Dawid (from Poland)
  • Saro (from California, USA)
  • Nicolas McCoppin (from New York, USA)
  • Jake Shears (from Washington, USA)
  • Os Amantes, Jaloo, and Strobo (all from Brazil)
  • Naisa (from Australia)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views & votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBT artist & must be available on YouTube.
