Chart Week 32 of 2021: Week of 8th August

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #32 of 2021: Week of 8th August

Chart notes:
John Duff stays put at #1 this weekend with "High Heels", his collaboration with Broadway star Lillias White. John says he wrote the song about two years ago in London. He was traveling on the tube at 9am, going to a writing session, when a young woman sashaying down the platform in stilettos caught his eye. He recalls, "She was clearly still going from the night before. She was shameless, brazen... I loved her." Over the past four days, the video for "High Heels" has gained an additional 7,106 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 4.34% over the previous chart).

Six videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend, including the former #1 hit "All I Know So Far" by Pink which is rebounding three spots to land back at #10. Three videos each make an impressive 10-point jump into the Top 10: Italian rock group Måneskin is up to #4 with "I Wanna Be Your Slave", Polish duo Jakub & Dawid are at #8 with "Inni", and Puerto Rican rapper/singer Villano Antillano reaches #9 with "Muñeca". Joining them in the Top 10 are two more American acts: Ben Platt (at #5 with "Yoü and I") and Eli Lieb (at #6 with "Boys Who Like Boys").

Nine songs fall off the chart to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut was "Industry Baby" by American rapper/singer Lil Nas X, entering the chart at #34. During a recent interview with Out magazine, Nas said that coming out as gay was "terrifying" in an industry that wasn't always accepting of black queer artists. "You can't always just go where you're accepted," he said, "You've got to go and break down those walls and say 'This is my space now too.'" Over the past half-week, the video for "Industry Baby" has gained an additional 7,145,667 YouTube views (which is an increase of 12.13% over the chart prior).

Further down the chart, we have 8 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Norway, the U.S.A., Canada, and Spain:
  • Conan Gray (from Texas, USA)
  • Jan Sport (from New Jersey, USA), Alaska Thunderfuck (from Pennsylvania, USA), & Peppermint (from Delaware, USA)
  • Girl In Red (from Norway)
  • A Great Big World (from New York, USA)
  • T. Thomason (from Nova Scotia, Canada)
  • Jax Anderson (from Michigan, USA) & Lauren Sanderson (from Indiana, USA)
  • Versus (from Spain)
  • Knut Kippersund (from Norway)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views & votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBT artist & must be available on YouTube.
