Midweek Chart for 25th August, 2021

Chart notes:
American musician Brandi Carlile (who's originally from the small town of Ravensdale, Washington) takes over the #1 position on the LGBT Midweek Chart with "Right on Time", climbing 3 notches from this weekend's #4 spot. Brandi started off her career in country music, but her music has also spanned many other genres (such as rock, folk, Americana, blues, and pop). In 2019 she received more nominations for The 61st Annual Grammy Awards than any other female artist, with a total of six nominations. (She went on to win three that year, followed by two more Grammy Awards in 2020). The track is currently at #16 on the MediaBase TripleA Chart, one of the official rock airplay charts in the U.S.A. Over the past three days, the video for "Right on Time" has gained an additional 31,598 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 4.18% over the previous chart).

Three videos move up into the Top 10. English singer Becky Hill rises 11 spots to #7 with "Remember". American duo The FMs climb 9 places to #8 with "Record Store". And finally, Caribbean vocalist Lycinaïs Jean (from Guadeloupe & Martinique) is up 2 more positions to hit #9 with "Tonbé Ajounou".

Twelve songs fall off the chart to make way for twelve new songs. The highest debut was "Younger Years" by New Zealand/Australian musician Ben Hazelwood, entering the chart at #32. Ben, who started off his career as a contestant on The Voice Australia, last appeared on the LGBT chart in May 2021 with "Lover" (which peaked at #42 and spent 3 weeks on the chart). In 2020 he had three videos on the LGBT Top 50, including one track ("Lay Me Down") that went all the way to the #1 spot. Over the past half-week, the video for "Younger Years" has gained an additional 35,051 YouTube views (which is an increase of 43.67% over the chart prior).

Further down the chart, we have 11 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Australia, the U.S.A., Canada, Spain, England, Mexico, and France:

  • Allison Ponthier (from Texas, USA)
  • Walk The Moon (from Ohio, USA)

If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & must be available on YouTube.
