Midweek Chart: 23 March 2022

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Midweek chart for 23rd March, 2022

Chart notes:
American alt-rock musician Chaz Cardigan reaches #1 on the LGBT chart at midweek with "Rockwell", moving up 3 more places from the weekend's #4 position. Chaz is originally from Kentucky & now resides in Nashville, Tennessee. He recently shared with OutNow Magazine that "Over the last few songs I've released I've been telling a story, and looking at my relationship with the United States as if it was my lover. In 'We Look So Good' and 'Pictures', I'm picking apart the relationship and saying 'wow, this looks really unhealthy'. 'Rockwell' is the fantasy of what the relationship could be. Total ecstasy in the white picket fence myth -- traditional gender norms, power, and institutions that care about you. It's a lie, but it's fucking fun to believe in." Over the past three days, the video for "Rockwell" has gained an additional 7,707 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 8.98% since the weekend's chart).

Six videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek. Swedish EDM duo Galantis climbs 9 notches to #5 with "Alien". German quartet Tokio Hotel rises 5 spots to #6 with "Bad Love". Thai singer/actor PP Krit gains 8 places to reach #7 with "I'll Do It How You Like It". Swedish singer/actor Omar Rudberg is moving up 5 positions to #8 with "Moving Like That". American duo The Knocks and Canadian singer/songwriter Dragonette leap ahead 11 notches to #9 with "Slow Song". They're joined in the Top 10 by Italian musician Mahmood, who's rising 8 spots to #10 with "Brividi".

Ten songs fall off the chart to make way for nine new songs and one re-entry. The highest debut at midweek was "The Days" by Swedish singer/songwriter Sandro Cavazza, entering the chart at #36. Sandro announced in November 2021 that he would be ending his career as a solo artist, claiming the reason to be that "some things like social media, competition, and being at the center of attention do not make me happy." He intends to focus on his career as a songwriter, and he has one final concert planned for Stockholm in 2022. Over the past half-week, the video for "The Days" has gained an additional 19,512 YouTube views (which is a huge increase of 10.19% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 8 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A. and Norway:
  • Mxmtoon (from California, USA)
  • Tony And The Kiki (from New York, USA)
  • New Kids On The Block (from Massachusetts, USA)
  • Bronze Avery (from Florida, USA)
  • Big Freedia (from Louisiana, USA)
  • Ryan Cassata (from New York, USA) & King Aiden (from Tennessee, USA)
  • Carlie Hanson (from Wisconsin, USA)
  • Kim Wigaard (from Norway)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes, with YouTube views accounting for two-thirds of the points. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
