Chart notes:
Australian singer/songwriter Sheldon Riley earns his first #1 on the LGBT chart at midweek with "Not the Same", moving up one more place from the weekend's #2 position. Sheldon started his musical career as a contestant on television talent competitions: he competed on The X Factor Australia (in 2016), on The Voice Australia (in 2018 and again in 2019), and on America's Got Talent (in 2020). This song was selected as Australia's official entry in the Eurovision 2022 contest in Italy, and Sheldon made it all the way to the final round but ultimately finished in 15th place. Over the past three days, the video for "Not the Same" has gained an additional 101,725 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 7.84% since the weekend's chart).

Four videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek, including a return from a song that had already reached #7 before falling back down the chart: Israeli musician Netta, on the strength of her brand-new video for "I Love My Nails", rebounds back up 9 notches to #8. Canadian country singer Orville Peck (from Toronto, Ontario) rises 6 spots to #5 with "Daytona Sand". Thai actors/singers Billkin and PP Krit leap ahead 12 places to #6 with "Læk Ley Pa (Hoo Whee Hoo)". They're joined in the Top 10 by English vocalist Charli XCX, who's moving up 4 more positions to #9 with "Used To Know Me".

Seven songs fall off the chart to make way for seven new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "Nora Jane" by American country singer Gina Venier, entering the chart at #35. Gina was born and raised in Illinois (about 100 miles from Chicago) and she now resides in Nashville, Tennessee. The song's lyrics tell the story of a young woman who's just beginning to come out to her family after meeting a woman named Nora Jane, and it's based on Gina's personal experiences with her own family. In a recent interview with People magazine, Gina discussed her own journey with coming out as an LGBTQ country artist. Gina remembers that, "I would meet someone and I started realizing that I shouldn't be hiding how I feel. It just didn't seem right... I found myself craving the chance to say 'I met someone who's really cool, and she happens to be a girl.'" Over the past half-week, the video for "Nora Jane" has gained an additional 355 YouTube views (which is a huge increase of 13.40% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 6 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from England, the U.S.A., Ukraine, Japan, and Sweden:
  • Artem Pyvovarov (from Ukraine)
  • Jamie Hannah (from England, UK)
  • Taichi Mukai (from Japan)
  • Sam Smith (from England, UK)
  • Kehlani (from California, USA)
  • Isak Danielson (from Sweden)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
