Chart notes:
It's a second week at #1 for Canadian country singer Orville Peck, hanging onto the top spot with "Daytona Sand". Since the beginning of his career, Orville has cautiously guarded his identity behind a fringed mask and has revealed very few details about himself. However, in April 2022 he shared with his fans via a post on Apple Music that he was born in South Africa and lived there until he was 15 years old. Orville did not receive any formal training in music as a child, teaching himself to play guitar and keyboards. He studied ballet and musical theater in Johannesburg and in London before relocating to his present home in Toronto, Ontario. Over the past three days, the video for "Daytona Sand" has gained an additional 6,957 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 1.82% since the midweek's chart).

Four videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek. Belgian/French singer Angèle climbs 9 notches to #5 with "Libre". Brazilian drag queen Lia Clark rises 5 spots to #6 with "Vrau". German rock quartet Tokio Hotel gains 8 more places to reach #8 with "Him". They're joined in the Top 10 by American drag queen Big Freedia (from New Orleans, Louisiana), who's moving up 6 more positions to #9 with "Re-Drop / Shake Ya Body".

Ten songs fall off the chart to make way for ten new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "Hold My Hand" by American musician Lady Gaga, entering the chart at #38. The track is the first single to be released off the soundtrack of the upcoming motion picture Top Gun: Maverick, a sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun. (Coincidentally, 1986 is also the year that Lady Gaga was born.) In the clip, Lady Gaga wears the same bomber jacket that was worn by Tom Cruise in the original 1986 film. According to the song's Wikipedia page, the single has already made it onto the official Top 40 charts of ten different countries (Japan, Hungary, New Zealand, Croatia, the U.S.A., Switzerland, Canada, the Netherlands, Slovakia, and Australia). Over the past half-week, the video for "Hold My Hand" has gained an additional 1,489,535 YouTube views (which is an increase of 9.54% over the previous chart period).

Further down the chart, we have 9 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from England, the U.S.A., Canada, Kenya, Brazil, and Sweden:
  • Carly Rae Jepsen (from British Columbia, Canada)
  • Yungblud (from England, UK) & Willow Smith (from California, USA)
  • Reigen (from New York, USA)
  • Josey Greenwell (from Kentucky, USA)
  • Skunk Anansie (from England, UK)
  • Trixie Mattel (from Wisconsin, USA)
  • Chimano (from Kenya)
  • Rodrigo Massa (from Brazil)
  • Patrik Jean (from Sweden)

Chart positions are determined by points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
