Chart notes:
Sam Smith manages to edge out his competition this week, as "How Do You Sleep" rises to the #1 position on the LGBT chart. According to his Wikipedia page, the song has reached the official sales charts in ten different countries and has been certified silver in his native Britain. The track will be featured on his upcoming (and as yet untitled) studio album.

The remainder of the Top Five this week are: the collaboration between German DJ/producer Felix Jaehn and English vocalist Calum Scott (holding steady for a 2nd consecutive week at #2), American rapper Lil Nas X (moving up 4 places to #3), Brazilian musician Jao (holding steady for a 3rd consecutive week at #4), and American singer Miley Cyrus (holding steady for a 2nd consecutive week at #5).

Seven songs fell off the chart this week to make way for seven new songs. The highest debut of the week was "F*ck, I'm Lonely" by American DJ/producer Lauv and English singer Anne-Marie, coming in at #22. The track had initially qualified for the chart on the strength of the lyric video which was featured on my Midweek Music Update for the 21st of August, but an official music video has now been released and will take its place here on the chart going forward.

Just one artist (Daughtry) is making his very first appearance on the LGBT chart this week. An additional six artists (Anne-Marie, Maruv, King Princess, Brandon Stansell, Conan Gray, and Maggie Lindemann) are returning to the chart with brand-new videos.

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past seven days, (4) percentage of increase in views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Thursday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).
