Chart notes:
English singer Mika moves up one spot this week to take over the #1 position with "Ice Cream". Over the past few weeks, I've mistakenly referred to Mika as a French singer. Last week, someone from Mika's Official Fan Club was kind enough to contact me and correct the error. Although Mika spent his early childhood in France and he speaks French fluently, his family relocated to London when he was ten years old. He was born in Lebanon, and his nationality is British.

The remainder of the Top Five this week are: American-English singer PJ Brennan (climbing 4 notches to #2), American singer Taylor Swift (holding onto #3 for a 2nd consecutive week), Moroccan-American singer Matthew James (holding steady at #4), and late English singer Freddie Mercury (rising 2 places to #5).

Seven songs fell off the chart this week to make way for six new songs and one re-entry. The highest debut of the week was "How Do You Sleep?" by English singer Sam Smith, coming in at #19.

Another noteworthy new entry this week is "WTF" by gay American musician JbDubs, coming in at #48. JbDubs (whose real name is James Whiteside) describes himself as "an openly gay pop singer with artistic experience, musical instinct, and killer dance moves". That last part isn't an idle boast: James has the credentials to back that up, as he's also a Principal Dancer with the American Ballet Theatre in New York City. He choreographed this music video, where he's joined by four of his ballet colleagues.

Two artists (JbDubs and Heather Strange) are making their very first appearances on the LGBT chart this week. An additional four artists (Sam Smith, Pvris, Will Young, and Quisol) are returning to the chart with brand-new videos.

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past 7 days, (4) percentage of increase in views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Thursday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).
