Chart notes:
Australian singer-songwriter Alfie Arcuri holds onto the #1 spot on the LGBT chart for a second consecutive week with "Same". Alfie was inspired to write the song because it describes what happened at the end of his first serious relationship: he attempted to replace his ex-boyfriend with someone similar, only to learn that it wasn't the same and it just didn't ease the heartbreak. The video for "Same" received the most votes this week, and it finished the week in fourth place (behind PJ Brennan, Elliot Jones, and Freddie Mercury) for the highest 7-day percentage gains in YouTube views. It was extremely close among the top four songs this week, but altogether Alfie has earned the most points and so he retains his #1 status.

The remainder of the Top Five this week are: French singer Mika (climbing 3 spots to #2), American singer Taylor Swift (moving up one notch to #3), Moroccan-American musician Matthew James (slipping 2 places to #4), and American singer Jordy (rising one spot to #5).

Nine songs fell off the chart this week to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut of the week was "Louquinho" by Brazilian singer Jao, coming in at #20. The title means "a little bit crazy" in Portuguese.

Three artists (Little Mix, Slow Dance, and Brandon Wilde) are making their very first appearances on the LGBT chart this week. An additional six artists (Jao, Yanni Burton, Gloria Groove, Elton John, Domo Wilson, and Calum Scott) are returning to the chart with brand-new videos.

Chart positions are based on points assigned from (1) the previous week's position, (2) length of time on the chart, (3) views on YouTube from the past 7 days, (4) percentage of increase in views from the week prior, (5) my votes, and (6) any votes I've received by Thursday morning. If you'd like to vote for your favorite songs, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info above).

  1. There is one mistake above that someone was kind enough to point out to me. Mika is not French; he is British. I will correct it next week.
