Chart Week 14 of 2022: 03 April

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #14 of 2022: Week of 3rd April

Chart notes:
American EDM duo The Knocks and Canadian singer/songwriter Dragonette claim the #1 spot on the LGBT chart this weekend with "Slow Song", moving up 1 more place from the midweek's #2 position. The video features American drag queen Aquaria, who was the winner of the tenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race. Aquaria has previously appeared in several other music videos, including "Cum" by Brooke Candy and "Malibu" by Kim Petras. At the beginning of the clip, we see Aquaria finishing up her workday and closing up shop before she sets off dancing through the streets. Eventually she ends up at a nightclub where The Knocks and Dragonette are performing, and she takes her moves onto the dancefloor. Over the past four days, the video for "Slow Song" has gained an additional 47,575 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 8.51% since the midweek's chart).

Five videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend, including three videos that are each making a huge 11-point leap: Argentinian/American singer Baby Yors at #3 with "Freak Out the People", Czech vocalist Renato Salerno at #4 with "Domino", and American musician/actor Mike Taveira (from Edison, New Jersey) at #9 with "Faces". American singer/songwriter Mxmtoon (from Oakland, California) climbs 6 more notches to #6 with "Mona Lisa". They're joined in the Top 10 by South Korean sextet OnlyOneOf, who are rising 3 more spots to #10 with "Suit Dance".

Fourteen songs fall off the chart to make way for fourteen new songs. The highest debut this weekend was "Hallucination" by Kosovar DJ/producer Regard and English singer/songwriter Years And Years, entering the chart at #28. The lyrics were inspired by an ex-lover of Years And Years (a.k.a. Olly Alexander) who attempted to re-enter his life. Olly explains, "Part of me wanted to rekindle the romance but too much had changed and I was left feeling really confused. If I looked at the situation a certain way, the whole thing seemed fake, like it was all just one big illusion. You know after the dust settles and you're like, was any of that real?... I know lots of people have been burnt in relationships so hopefully they'll relate to the lyrics." Over the past half-week, the video for "Hallucination" has gained an additional 140,997 YouTube views (which is a massive increase of 16.92% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 13 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Australia, England, Iceland, the U.S.A., Brazil, Portugal, Austria, Spain, and Argentina:
  • G Flip (from Australia) & Lauren Sanderson (from Indiana, USA)
  • Jordan Doww (from Michigan, USA)

  • Felix III (from New York, USA)
  • Sonikku (from England, UK)
  • Jake Wesley Rogers (from Missouri, USA)

  • Haffi Haff (from Iceland)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes, with YouTube views accounting for two-thirds of the total points. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
