Midweek Chart: 13 April 2022

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Midweek Chart for 13th April, 2022

Chart notes:
English singer/songwriter Olly Alexander (better known as Years And Years), along with Kosovar DJ/producer Regard, has the new #1 video on the LGBT chart at midweek with "Hallucination", moving up 2 more places from the weekend's #3 position. The track is currently at #7 on the official U.K. radio airplay chart. It's also appeared on the digital/streaming charts of 131 different countries, reaching the Top 5 in eight of them (#1 in Finland, #2 in Bulgaria, #3 in Malta and Russia, #4 in Spain and Estonia, and #5 in Lithuania and the U.K.). The single is currently at #11 on the SoundCharts Global Digital/Streaming Chart. Over the past three days, the video for "Hallucination" has gained an additional 123,192 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 9.07% since the weekend's chart).

Four videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek, including a return from a former #1 hit: American duo The Knocks (from New York City) and Canadian singer/songwriter Dragonette (from Toronto, Ontario) rebound back up 5 notches to #7 with "Slow Song". American singer King Princess (from Brooklyn, New York) climbs 11 notches to #6 with "For My Friends". The remaining two songs that are entering the Top 10 are each making a huge 13-point leap from their positions on the weekend's chart: American singer/songwriter Jordy (from Chicago, Illinois) at #9 with "Past Tense", and Puerto Rican rapper/singer Residente (along with French duo Ibeyi) at #10 with "This Is Not America".

Eight songs fall off the chart to make way for eight new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "Ne Zvolikay (Waste No Time)" by Ukrainian musician Melovin, entering the chart at #37. Melovin first rose to prominence as the winner of the sixth season of X-Factor Ukraine in 2015. He went on to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018, and he won the second season of The Masked Singer Ukraine in 2021. Melovin came out publicly as bisexual in 2021 at a concert. He wrote this song during the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, hoping to lift the spirits of the Ukrainian people. Over the past half-week, the video for "Ne Zvolikay (Waste No Time)" has gained an additional 53,709 YouTube views (which is a massive increase of 23.07% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 7 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from England, the U.S.A., Sweden, Belgium, and Spain:
  • Willow Smith & Siiickbrain (both from California, USA)
  • Mike Taylor (from Pennsylvania, USA)
  • Becky Hill (from England, UK) & Galantis (from Sweden)
  • Oscar And The Wolf (from Belgium)
  • The Regrettes (from California, USA)
  • Benedict Cork (from England, UK)
  • Laskaar (from Spain)

If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
