Chart Week 17 of 2022: 24 April

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #17 of 2022: Week of 24th April

Chart notes:
German singer/songwriter Daniel Schuhmacher reaches the #1 spot on the LGBT chart this weekend with "And Just Like That", moving up 3 more places from the midweek's #4 position. The track has gotten as high as #5 on the SoundCharts Radio Airplay Chart in Daniel's native Germany, and has reached #8 on the iTunes Digital/Streaming Chart in Austria. Over the past four days, the video for "And Just Like That" has gained an additional 235 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 9.78% over the midweek's chart).

Just two videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend. American musician Jake Wesley Rogers (from Ozark, Missouri) leaps ahead 11 notches to #7 with "Lavender Forever". He's joined in the Top 10 by Canadian artist Calvyn Cass (from Vancouver, British Columbia), who's moving up 9 spots to #10 with "My Friend".

Eleven songs fall off the chart this weekend to make way for eleven new songs. The highest debut this weekend was "The Devil in Mexico" by American country singer/actor Daddy Dawg, entering the chart at #35. Daddy Dawg (whose real name is Jack Nathan Harding) is originally from Odessa, Texas. He began his acting career at the age of 5 in local commercials, and has appeared in more than 40 television and film roles. His musical career came much later, as he didn't release his first album until the age of 54. In a 2020 interview with Out Front Magazine, Jack said that he was inspired to become a country singer by the fact that "I'm a gay dude that grew up without a gay voice in country music. So, when I decided to do these singles and this album, it was just going to be songs that I wrote from a gay man's point of view... They are giving a voice to something I didn't have in my early years." Over the past half-week, the video for "The Devil in Mexico" has gained an additional 39 YouTube views (which is an increase of 5.04% over the previous chart period).

Further down the chart, we have 10 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Brazil, the U.S.A., England, Chile, Romania, Canada, and Japan:
  • Pabllo Vittar (from Brazil) & Rina Sawayama (from England, UK)
  • Todrick Hall (from Texas, USA)
  • Boy Harsher & Cooper B. Handy (both from Massachusetts, USA)
  • Kevin Vásquez (from Chile) & DJ Clau (from Romania)
  • Theo Tams (from Alberta, Canada)
  • Amber Liu (from California, USA)
  • Taichi Mukai (from Japan)
  • Mxmtoon (from California, USA)
  • Madblush (from Brazil)
  • Hayden Joseph (from South Carolina, USA)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes, with YouTube views accounting for two-thirds of the total points. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
