Midweek Chart: 20 April 2022

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Midweek chart for 20th April, 2022

Chart notes:
American musician King Princess takes over the #1 spot on the LGBT chart at midweek with "For My Friends", moving up 2 more places from the weekend's #3 position. In the video, King Princess is preparing for a reckless night out in New York City with her two best friends and it quickly devolves into chaos: drunken fights, raucous laughter in the streets, holding a friend's hair back as she vomits, and facing a hangover the next morning. Despite the drama, the clip is a portrait of the highs and lows of friendship in young adulthood. Over the past three days, the video for "For My Friends" has gained an additional 35,757 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 5.59% since the weekend's chart).

Four videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek. Ukrainian musician Melovin climbs 9 spots to #5 with "Ne Zvolikay (Waste No Time)". Canadian country singer Orville Peck (from Toronto, Ontario) rises 5 more places to #6 with "The Curse of the Blackened Eye". The remaining two videos that enter the Top 10 at midweek are both from American rock acts: Willow Smith (from Los Angeles, California) moves up 5 positions to #7 with "Purge", while Andie Case (from Eugene, Oregon) gains 3 more notches to land at #9 with "I Think I'm God".

Nine songs fall off the chart to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "God and Guns" by transgender American singer/songwriter/actress Mila Jam, entering the chart at #32. Mila was recently announced as one of the headlining acts at two upcoming LGBTQ Pride festivals in June: one in California and one in Illinois. At West Hollywood's OutLoud Raising Voices Music Festival (a part of WeHo Pride, which will be held June 3rd through June 5th), Mila will perform alongside other LGBTQ acts like Slayyter, Shea Diamond, Greyson Chance, Saucy Santana, Jake Wesley Rogers, Years And Years, Muna, Taylor Bennett, Mykki Blanco, Isaac Dunbar, and Sam Tsui. At Chicago Pride Fest (June 18th through June 19th), she'll take the stage along with other LGBTQ musicians like Alaska Thunderfuck, The Aces, and Dorian Electra. Mila's most recent single is her third release in 2022 so far (following "Catch This Love" and "Over and Over"). Over the past half-week, the video for "God and Guns" has gained an additional 997 YouTube views (which is a huge increase of 16.63% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 8 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A., Canada, Ukraine, France, England, and Italy:
  • Ria Mae (from Nova Scotia, Canada)
  • Artem Pyvovarov (from Ukraine)
  • Miley Cyrus (from Tennessee, USA)
  • Mark Tuan (from California, USA)
  • Jonathan Lykes (from Illinois, USA) & Big Freedia (from Louisiana, USA)
  • Garçons Sensibles (from France)
  • Tom Aspaul (from England, UK)
  • Ali And The Stolen Boy (from Italy)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes, with YouTube views accounting for two-thirds of the total points. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
