Chart Week 16 of 2022: 17 April

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #16 of 2022: Week of 17th April

Chart notes:
The very top of the LGBT chart remains unchanged this weekend, as English singer/songwriter Years And Years (along with Kosovar DJ/producer Regard) spends a second consecutive week at #1 with "Hallucination". The track's lyrics were inspired by an ex-lover of Olly Alexander's, who left him confused after trying to re-enter his life. The song is currently at #8 on the official U.K. radio airplay chart. In the U.S.A., it's reached #1 on the MediaBase Dance Chart. Over the past four days, the video for "Hallucination" has gained an additional 198,123 views on YouTube (which is a huge increase of 13.37% since the midweek's chart!).

Three videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend. German vocalist Daniel Schuhmacher climbs 7 notches to #8 with "And Just Like That". Swedish musician Isak Danielson rises 4 spots to #9 with "King of a Tragedy". They're joined in the Top 10 by Icelandic trio Vök, who are moving up 1 more place to the #10 position with "Lose Control".

Ten songs fall off the chart this weekend to make way for ten new songs. The highest debut this weekend was "C.Y.B.A.H." by American singer/songwriter Syd, entering the chart at #32. Syd (whose real name is Sydney Bennet and hails from Los Angeles, California) teamed up with American singer Lucky Daye (from New Orleans, Louisiana) on this track who title is an acronym for "Could You Break a Heart?". In the lyrics, Syd's wondering if a new girlfriend is capable of hurting her. It's the first single released off of Syd's second full-length studio album Broken Hearts Club, which was officially released on April 8th. Syd told Pitchfork that, "The album is about a relationship I had that ended in my first real broken heart. It almost felt like I joined a club because all of my friends went through similar experiences. It was like a rite of passage." Over the past half-week, the video for "C.Y.B.A.H." has gained an additional 43,117 YouTube views (which is an increase of 8.68% over the previous chart period).

Further down the chart, we have 9 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A., Canada, Hong Kong, China, Argentina, France, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, and Sweden:
  • Muna (from California, USA)
  • Calvyn Cass (from British Columbia, Canada)
  • Jake Wesley Rogers (from Missouri, USA)
  • Jackson Wang (originally from Hong Kong & now residing in mainland China)
  • Marilina Bertoldi (from Argentina)
  • Cassandre (from France)
  • Villano Antillano (from Puerto Rico)
  • Luis Gamarra (originally from Bolivia & now living in Florida, USA)
  • Fontana (from Sweden)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes, with YouTube views accounting for two-thirds of the total points. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist and they must be available on YouTube.
