Chart Week 38 of 2021: 19th September

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Chart Week #38 of 2021: Week of 19th September

Chart notes:
American singer/songwriter Sarah Barrios (who's originally from Connecticut) has the new #1 video on the LGBT chart this weekend with "Thank God You Introduced Me to Your Sister", up one more spot from the midweek's #2 position. Sarah, who identifies as bisexual, told American Songwriter in July that she borrows heavily from personal experience in her storytelling. "I went out with a guy, and he was so laser-focused on making sure no other guys were hitting on me that he failed to notice every woman who made eyes from across the room or offered to buy me a drink," she recalled. "I just think it's funny how unaware he was or how unaware the character is in the song." Sarah is heading out on her first-ever tour, and she'll also be performing at The Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City next weekend. Over the past four days, the video for "Thank God You Introduced Me to Your Sister" has gained an additional 64,048 views on YouTube (which is an astounding increase of 21.21% over the midweek chart!).

Two videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend. Australian musician/actor Troye Sivan climbs 3 more notches to reach #9 with "Stud". Spanish vocalist Pablo Alborán moves up 7 spots to land at #10 with "No Está En Tus Planes".

Seven songs fall off the chart to make way for seven new songs. The highest debut was "Rhythm and Music" by Australian singer/actor Keiynan Lonsdale, entering the chart at #31. The track is from his 2020 album Rainbow Boy, which Huffington Post called "a celebration of black queer identity" and was nominated for "Outstanding Breakthrough Artist" at The 2021 GLAAD Music Awards. When Keiynan came out in 2017, he wrote that he had "spent way too many years hating myself, thinking I was less valuable because I was different... which is just untrue." Over the past half-week, the video for "Rhythm and Music" has gained an additional 36,294 YouTube views (which is an increase of 9.05% over the previous chart period).

Further down the chart, we have 6 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from England, the U.S.A., the Netherlands, and Japan:
  • Abbad And Freimann (from the Netherlands)
  • Steps (from England, UK)
  • Chloe Moriondo (from Michigan, USA)
  • Ben Platt (from California, USA)
  • Bentley Jones (originally from England & now residing in Japan)
  • PrettiBoiRoq (from North Carolina, USA) & Randy Boo (from Colorado, USA)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
