Midweek Chart: 15th September 2021

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Midweek Chart for 15th September, 2021

Chart notes:
Elton John and Dua Lipa hang onto the #1 spot on the Midweek LGBT Chart with "Cold Heart". While this is the first time the duo have recorded a single together, they previously performed together back in April for Elton's annual Oscars party (which benefits The Elton John AIDS Foundation). Since I published my weekend chart, the track has reached the Top 10 on the IFPI radio airplay charts of 8 more countries (Greece, Denmark, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Japan). Over the past three days, the video for "Cold Heart" has gained an additional 1,939,928 views on YouTube (which is another impressive increase of 14.78% over the previous chart!).

Four videos move up into the Top 10. American singer Fletcher (from New Jersey) re-enters the Top 10, rebounding 5 spots to #7 with her former #1 hit "Healing". Jaime Kohen (from Mexico) jumps ahead 7 notches to #6 with "Algo Más". Agoney (from Spain) climbs 3 more positions to land at #8 with his cover of Erasure's "A Little Respect". And finally, American quintet Pentatonix (from Texas) moves up 5 more places to land at #10 with their BTS mashup "Butter x Dynamite".

Eleven songs fall off the chart to make way for ten new songs and one re-entry. The highest debut was "Kindness" by Danish singer/songwriter Mø, entering the chart at #34. Mø describes this track as a love letter to her fans that she wrote during the Covid-19 lockdown. "I wrote it at a time when I was feeling, like a lot of people, disconnected from the physical world," she told Consequence of Sound back in July. "Despite being isolated," she recalls, "there was this beautiful connection and support from my fans and from our little online community, which I was so thankful for." Over the past half-week, the video for "Kindness" has gained an additional 457,264 YouTube views (which is an incredible increase of 85.80% over the chart prior!).

Further down the chart, we have 9 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from England, the U.S.A., Brazil, Italy, and Uruguay:
  • Yungblud (from England, UK)
  • Thalles Cabral (from Brazil)
  • Sam Tsui (from Pennsylvania, USA)
  • Lagoona Bloo (from Louisiana, USA)
  • Alessandro 'Alo' Casini (from Italy)
  • Max Tejera (from Uruguay)
  • Jax Anderson (from Michigan, USA)
  • Lordin (from England, UK)
  • Nicolas McCoppin (from New York, USA)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views & votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
