Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.
Chart Week #42 of 2021: Week of 17th October
Chart notes:
Australian musician Troye Sivan takes over the #1 spot on the LGBT chart this weekend, as "Angel Baby" moves up 1 more notch from the midweek's #2 position. The track has a new official video (released on Wednesday, October 13th) which will be used for this chart & playlist starting today, replacing the unofficial "visualizer" video which had already gotten him as high as #2 on this chart. Normally I don't like to replace the videos in the playlist because a new video often gives an artificial boost in YouTube views when it's first released & skews all the statistics; however Troye would've made it to #1 regardless with this song. Over the past four days, the new video for "Angel Baby" has gained an additional 138,158 views on YouTube (which is a huge increase of 30.92% over the midweek chart!).
Four videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend, two of which happen to be from American artists: Jake Wesley Rogers (from Ozark, Missouri) rises 6 spots to #7 with "Weddings and Funerals", while Kacey Musgraves (from Mineola, Texas) climbs 9 places to reach #9 with "Breadwinner". British vocalist Calum Scott moves ahead 7 more positions to #4 with "Where Are You Now?". And finally, they're joined in the Top 10 by Spanish duo Allen King and Pol Prince, who gain 6 more notches to land at #10 with "Sugar Daddy".
Thirteen songs fall off the chart this weekend to make way for thirteen new songs. The highest debut was "Somebody I F*cked Once" by American singer Zolita, entering the chart at #28. According to Paper Magazine, Zolita celebrated the release of this self-directed video by throwing a "Gay Prom" party for her friends at a neon-lit Los Angeles bar that she decorated with foil curtains, as well as lots of hot pink and glitter. Over the past half-week, the video for "Somebody I F*cked Once" has gained an additional 578,246 YouTube views (which is an increase of 7.72% over the previous chart period).
Further down the chart, we have 12 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Australia, the U.S.A., Germany, Canada, Scotland, Brazil, and France:
- Daniel Schuhmacher (from Germany)
- Sia (from Australia)
- Will Jay (from California, USA)
- Green Day (from California, USA)
- Ieuan (from California, USA)
- Tommy Genesis (from British Columbia, Canada)
- Walt Disco (from Scotland, UK)
- Mxmtoon (from California, USA)
- May-A (from Australia)
- Sean Doherty (from Illinois, USA)
- Bemti (from Brazil)
- Pierre-André (from France)
Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views & votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
