Midweek Chart for 27th October, 2021
Chart notes:
British singer/songwriter Calum Scott stays put at the #1 position on the LGBT Midweek Chart with "Where Are You Now?", a collaboration with Belgian DJ/producer Lost Frequencies. Calum rose to fame as a contestant on the 2015 season of Britain's Got Talent, and his debut album sold more than 3.6 million copies. He recently was given the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game, as the team has adopted his cover of Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" as their unofficial playoff anthem. Over the past three days, the video for "Where Are You Now?" has gained an additional 936,289 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 9.49% over the weekend's chart).
Three videos move up into the Top 10, including a return from American musician Tom Goss: after falling out of the Top 10 this weekend, his video for "Best Life" rebounds back up 9 spots to reach #4. The other two videos moving up into the Top 10 both happen to be from American artists as well: Mxmtoon (from Oakland, California) climbs 8 notches to #7 with "In the Darkness", while Ashnikko (originally from Greensboro, North Carolina & now residing in London, England) rises 7 places to land at #9 with "Panic Attacks in Paradise".
Twelve songs fall off the chart to make way for twelve new songs. The highest debut was "Rich B*tch" by Ukrainian vocalist Maruv, entering the chart at #34. Maruv got her start as a contestant on the television talent competition Holos Krainy, the Ukrainian version of The Voice, in 2014. She found international success after her song "Drunk Groove" hit #1 in 13 countries in 2017, and then she was selected to represent Ukraine in The 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. (Maruv later withdrew from that competition, due to a contract clause that would've prohibited her from performing concerts in Russia.) Over the past half-week, the video for "Rich B*tch" has gained an additional 79,909 YouTube views (which is a large increase of 10.24% over the previous chart period!).
