Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.
Chart Week #51 of 2021: Week of 19th December
Chart notes:
There's little change at the very top of the LGBT chart this weekend, as the top three videos are still ranking high in YouTube views and all three remain in the same spots as they were at the midweek's chart. Swedish singer Darin holds onto #1 for a second consecutive week with "Holding Me More". According to SoundCharts, the track has already made the Top 15 on the digital/streaming charts of two countries (#11 in Sweden and #13 in Peru) and has also appeared on the charts of three other countries (Norway, Spain, and Finland). In terms of radio airplay, the song has made the Top 15 in his home country of Sweden (peaking at #15 so far) and has appeared on the airplay charts of five other countries (the U.K., Australia, France, Finland, and Brazil). Over the past four days, the video for "Holding Me More" has gained an additional 3,669 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 9.41% since the midweek chart).
Four videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend. American singer/songwriter Torrey Mercer (from San Diego, California) climbs 8 spots to #5 with "IDK". French musician Florian Bertonnier (known professionally as Thx4Crying) makes a huge leap of 13 places to #7 with "Alors Je Descends Plus Bas". American vocalist Kesha (originally from Brentwood, Tennessee) jumps ahead 11 positions to #8 with "Drop Dead". They're joined in the Top 10 by English singer Olly Alexander (better known as Years And Years), who's rising 1 more notch to #10 with "Crave".
Ten songs fall off the chart to make way for ten new songs. The highest debut this weekend was "Hold On" by American singer/songwriter Matt Palmer, entering the chart at #36. Matt wrote on Twitter that this was his favorite track from Adele's 30 and he released his cover version on the same day that Adele officially released her album. Not only is Matt a big fan of Adele, but they have some professional connections in common: Matt and Adele have both worked with English producer Fraser T. Smith (who co-wrote Adele's #1 smash "Set Fire to the Rain" in 2011). Over the past half-week, the video for Matt's version of "Hold On" has gained an additional 199 YouTube views (which is an increase of 6.22% over the previous chart period).
Further down the chart, we have 9 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Canada, the U.S.A., England, Brazil, and Denmark:
- Miki Ratsula (from California, USA)
- Dion Yorkie (originally from England and now residing in Canada)
- Pabllo Vittar (from Brazil)
- Mø (from Denmark)
- David Archuleta (from Utah, USA)
- Big Freedia (from Louisiana, USA)
- Jordy (originally from Illinois, USA)
- Marina Lin (from Ontario, Canada)
- Michael Medrano (from California, USA)
Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
