Midweek Chart: 15 December 2021

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Midweek Chart for 15th December, 2021

Chart notes:
Swedish musician Darin Zanyar (known professionally as Darin) scores his first #1 hit on the LGBT chart at midweek with "Holding Me More", moving up 3 more spots from the weekend's #4 position. Darin's parents emigrated to Europe from Iraqi Kurdistan, but he was born and raised in Stockholm. He started his musical career as a teenager on the first season of Swedish Idol and went on to become one of Sweden's best-selling artists, with seven #1 albums according to his Wikipedia page. Darin came out publicly as gay in August 2020 via an Instagram post. Over the past three days, the video for "Holding Me More" has gained an additional 4,073 views on YouTube (which is a huge increase of 11.66% since the weekend's chart!).

Two videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek. Norwegian singer/songwriter Marie Ringheim (better known as Girl In Red) leaps ahead 12 big notches to #6 with "I'll Call You Mine". She's joined in the Top 10 by American country singer Cameron Hawthorn (who's originally from Kansas), climbing 4 more places to #8 with "Dreamland".

Nine songs fall off the chart to make way for nine new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "Tequila Sunrise" by Ukrainian singer/songwriter Max Barskih, entering the chart at #34. Max got his start in the music business as a contestant on the Ukrainian television competition Fabrika Zirok 2 (which translates to Star Factory 2 in English). Forbes Magazine USA and Vogue Ukraine have called him "the internationally most successful Russian language singer", although he sometimes records in English as well. Over the past half-week, the video for "Tequila Sunrise" has gained an additional 1,152,763 YouTube views (which is an astounding increase of 32.89% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 8 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Italy, Australia, the U.S.A., Germany, and Spain:
  • Yvie Oddly (from Colorado, USA)
  • Alessia Labate (from Italy)
  • Keiynan Lonsdale (from Australia)
  • Finn Ronsdorf (from Germany)
  • Alfie Arcuri (from Australia)
  • Ali And The Stolen Boy (from Italy)
  • David Rees (from Spain)
  • Hurray For The Riff Raff (from Louisiana, USA)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
