Chart Week 52 of 2021: 26th December

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBT artists from around the world.

Chart Week #52 of 2021: Week of 26th December

Chart notes:
It's very rare that a song from outside the Top 5 manages to take over the #1 spot on the LGBT chart, but that's exactly what happens on this final weekend of the year! Australian singer/songwriter Alfie Arcuri jumps 7 big notches from the midweek's #8 position with "Devil's Lips", becoming the last #1 video of 2021. Alfie began his career as a contestant on the television competition The Voice Australia, ultimately winning the fifth season of that show in 2016 and then releasing his debut album later that year. Over the past four days, the video for "Devil's Lips" has gained an additional 7,531 views on YouTube (which is a massive increase of 23.02% since the midweek chart!).

Three videos move up into the Top 10 this weekend. Brazilian drag queen Pabllo Vittar leaps ahead 14 places to #5 with "Number One". German artist Finn Ronsdorf climbs 4 notches to #8 with "Bloodline". They're joined in the Top 10 by American singer Matt Palmer, whose cover of Adele's "Hold On" rises 8 spots to #10.

Thirteen songs fall off the chart to make way for thirteen new songs. The highest debut this weekend was "Un Jour Je Marierai Un Ange" by Belgian musician Pierre De Maere, entering the chart at #33. Pierre began composing his own music at the age of ten and publishing his own videos on his YouTube channel. Later he enrolled at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp intending to study photography, but he only stayed there for about a year before realizing that his true passion was music. He self-published his own work on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Deezer in early 2020, and was quickly offered a contract with Parisian label Cinq 7. His first EP (entitled Un Jour, Je) is due to be released on January 14th. Over the past half-week, the video for "Un Jour Je Marierai Un Ange" has gained an additional 43,854 YouTube views (which is a huge increase of 13.74% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 12 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from Spain, England, Australia, the U.S.A., Brazil, Venezuela, Japan, and Chile:
  • Lauren Jauregui (from Florida, USA)
  • Pablo Alborán (from Spain)
  • Todrick Hall (from Texas, USA)
  • Halsey (from New Jersey, USA)
  • Romero Ferro (from Brazil)
  • La Roux (from England, UK)
  • G Flip (from Australia)
  • Steps (from England, UK)
  • Arca (originally from Venezuela, now living in Spain) & Sia (from Australia)
  • MeseMoa (from Japan)
  • Dani Ride (from Chile)
  • Ricky Merino (from Spain)
Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.

Reminder: There will be no midweek chart this week. Instead I will be publishing the 2021 Year-End Special chart & playlist, which will take a look back at the biggest hits of the past year on Tad's LGBT Music Chart. I expect to publish this on Wednesday (29th December) or Thursday (30th December). Regular charts will resume next weekend (Sunday, 2nd January). Happy New Year, everyone!
