Midweek Chart: 05 January 2022

Twice a week, Tad's LGBT Music Chart brings you the Top 50 music videos by LGBTQ artists from around the world.

Midweek Chart for 5th January, 2022

Chart notes:
Chilean brother-and-sister duo Kevin Y Karla achieve their first #1 on the LGBT chart, as their Spanish version of Adele's "Easy on Me" climbs two more notches from last weekend's #3 position. Kevin (who has previously appeared on this chart as a solo artist, using the name Kevibraz) is openly gay and is a self-described LGBTQ activist. In addition to their musical careers, the siblings are both actors who have appeared on multiple television shows in Chile. The pair's debut album (entitled Dreamers) was released in September 2013 and hit the Top 10 on the official Chilean album chart, peaking at #9. Over the past three days, the video for "Easy on Me (Spanish Version)" has gained an additional 22,242 views on YouTube (which is an increase of 9.16% since the weekend's chart).

Three videos move up into the Top 10 at midweek, including a return from a video that had fallen out of the Top 10 last weekend: Brazilian drag queen Pabllo Vittar is rebounding back up 5 spots to #7. She's joined in the Top 10 by two American acts who are each rising 9 places: Todrick Hall (from Plainview, Texas) is at #6 with "Boys in the Ocean", while Halsey (from Edison, New Jersey) is at #9 with "Honey".

Eight songs fall off the chart to make way for eight new songs. The highest debut at midweek was "Pretty" by Norwegian singers Astrid S. and Dagny, entering the chart at #34. According to the song's Wikipedia page, the track has already reached #10 on the official singles chart in Norway. It has reached #1 on the digital/streaming chart in Norway, having appeared in the Top 100 in a total of 28 countries, and has gotten as high as #7 on the SoundCharts Global Streaming Chart. The song is currently at #24 on the official radio airplay chart in Norway and it also appears on the airplay charts of 16 other countries. Over the past half-week, the video for "Pretty" has gained an additional 34,586 YouTube views (which is a huge increase of 12.09% over the previous chart period!).

Further down the chart, we have 7 more debuts by LGBTQ artists from the U.S.A., France, Australia, Spain, Sweden, Japan, and Morocco:
  • Bilal Hassani (from France)
  • Billy Porter (from Pennsylvania, USA)
  • Gordi (from Australia)
  • Miss Caffeina (from Spain)
  • Oscar Zia (from Sweden)
  • Lisa Remar (originally from New York, USA & now residing in Japan)
  • Fayçal Azizi (from Morocco)

Chart positions are based on points assigned from a combination of YouTube views and votes. If you'd like to vote for your favorite videos, please feel free to leave a comment on this blog (anonymous comments are permitted) or send me a private message (see the contact info below). Suggestions for new videos are also welcomed, but they must be from an LGBTQ artist & they must be available on YouTube.
